Dreamweaver to Notepad++ With Styling

A couple of days ago I made a big decision to change from Adobe Dreamweaver to Notepad++. The reason was to save money on that monthly subscription for having Creative Cloud. £35  per month and I only used two programs which Dreamweaver was the only one that I used daily.

So there was no point in paying £420 a year for one program. I than asked around on Google+ what the best alternatives are.

Here is a list of alternative Open Source IDE’s

After playing with most of them for an hour, I ended up using Notepad++. I like it as it looked basic enough for me to write all my coding. Has a bunch of plugins that makes most of your utilities within Dreamweaver an easy transformation.

The only thing that bugged me was the syntax highlighter. Non of the basic themes where good, the problem I had is that I was so used to the color scheme that I was reliant to the colors for me to quickly find sections of the code. And with other colors I just lost it all. So what I did was i used Githubs color scheme and build my one on top.

The only supported languages I changed where PHP, CSS, HTML and Javascript. The rest is basic github styling.

So for everyone to enjoy
