Content Research goes hand in hand with my other article seo content quality. These two articles are similar in topics but have two different stories to tell.
A brief explanation:
Content Quality is how you structure your content and where to find information, so that you can write a good seo optimized article about the product or article.
Content Research is a more in-depth article on writing your product or article to ensure you have something that your visitor wants plus adding extra content. The information you provide to your visitor is of importance to ensure a longer stay and let yourself as a website or company be recognized as a reliable source of information.
The missing content
Lets take a real world object as an example, our example in this case will be a Lemon. Most people will write what they see or in this case how it smells.
The most obvious keywords would be.
But is that really the case? Today an age there is so much more information a visitor needs or not even realizes. So here is what you can do with basic knowledge.
- What can you do with a lemon?
- What is it good for?
- How are they grown?
- Where are they grown?
- and so on and so on.
What i’m trying to explain is that if you add more in-depth content the visitor will stay longer on your site. And most likely share your page allot quicker.
In-depth content is extremely useful as it will inspire the visitor to new areas. What you need to be careful is that you don’t overwhelm your page with information. The problem with too much content is that you will lose the visitor’s attention span.
There are several ways to have lots of content, without the need for placing it all in the visitors face.
- Write a brief paragraph with a link to more information
Take the time to do offline and online research of the object you are writing about, play with it, take pictures, watch movies, simply get involved with what you are talking about.
Key Word Research
Use Google Keyword Planner to find phrases that people are interested in. As an example I have used Lemons, and I can quickly see what the popular phrases are. So based on the trends you can start researching articles about each popular element.
Another good technique on researching topical subjects is to view forums. There you can always find what people in your niche are talking about. So a good suggestion is to than write about it.
The forums are also a great source to find common problems, lets say I’m trying to fit install a printer, the common problem is where do you plug the cables in. Do you have that covered on your site?
Google Trends is another great tool to use for analyzing what the trending subjects are and you can filter down to countries and towns. For example the search on lemons reveals a trending search in 24 hours lemons. So what is that? I would have never guessed people would type that in a search. After analyzing the data it refers to LeMons, which is a race track in France. So even thought it has nothing to do with lemons, it does have an association with the word.
There are so many ways on writing in depth content by utilizing research tools and common sense that are right in front of you.
